Request a Thesis Skin

by Chris on September 4, 2009

After several months of being completely wrapped up in my 9-5 job working through the integration of a new software package, I finally have some time again to devote to my websites and design projects. Since I launched the Wuffo Red & Navy Skins for the Thesis WordPress Theme back in February, a lot has happened. Several new and even more powerful versions of Thesis have been released and the Thesis community has greatly increased (now 12,000+ sites are running Thesis) so now seems like a perfect time to launch some new killer Thesis Skins.

That being said, I’d like to ask the visitors to this site to tell me just what kind of skins they’d like to see. Thesis is powerful enough to pretty much replicate any site out there so just leave a comment and let me know what you’re looking for. If you’ve got a specific site in mind, provide a link and that will really help! Looking forward to hearing from everyone and to pumping out some new free Thesis Skins for everyone!

Hi

I’m glad I found you. I just started my Thesis WordPress Blog. I got stuck with changing the Background or the Ttesis Skin as you call it.
How do I get one of your skins? Plus how can we keep in touch? as iy looks like I need an experienced person like you. The Support forums for questions don’t seem complete. I want to add things like you have like the Twitter Plugin or Facebook . Main Page and Blog Page. Thesis tutorials leave a person stuck.

Richard - Thanks for stopping by. I’d be glad to help you get your Thesis site up and running. I see you already found me on twitter so feel free to ask any questions on there or just leave me another comment here. For fairly simple things like changing the backgrounds and adding twitter plugins, I’ll just walk you through the steps. I am also available for hire though for more complex jobs.

The Thesis Skins I’ve created are all free and you can download them here on this site. Currently I’ve just got the two Wufoo Skins but I’ll be putting out some more soon. If you have something in mind or see a specific site you’d like a Thesis skin to look like, let me know and I’ll try to make it happen. Thanks again for stopping by and looking forward to talking with you.

Chris, I have been coming back to this site again and again over the past months hoping to find some new skins. I have no tech skills, and even the forums and tutorials make my head spin, plus I am always terrified I will do one little thing wrong that will destroy all the SEO optimization or ruin the site. Actually, I think there are a lot of us out there who are all about ideas and content, and just want to jump in with something premade so we have no worries about ruining our sites. You could seriously, seriously make a LOT of money with a few free downloads and a bunch of premiums to sell. I’ll be first in line when your new skins comes out.
The overall feel of the Wufoo skins is OK, but the colors are really too bold. That yellow background, ouch. But if there were other more modern color palettes available that would be a huge help. Maybe a skin where you could choose between 3 color variations on a background, like a denim pattern that we could switch to blue, tan, or a soft green. Just a pattern with a little texture to it. Something to add a little depth?
Another idea is, could we have some pre-designed header “boxes”? Nothing fancy, but maybe just choose from one of three shapes, one of three colors, choose your font, and maybe import a little graphic right to the box? Because….I don’t know how or where to go to insert a header file that I might create in Fireworks.
And I make be asking for the moon here, but you said to let you know. If there was ANY way there could be a way to just click and drag, drag and drop option for those of us who are just supervisual? Instead of going back to the Dashboard and making a change and then going to the page to see what the heck we just did? Maybe start off with the typical Thesis out-of the-box layout, and then on a sidebar have other options we could click and drag and drop where we wanted on the page, move things around?
And finally (and I don’t think this would be hard) for that cool little scrolling image show you have on the out-of-the-box Thesis? Is there a way on the dashboard where you could just have us “browse” to the photos we want to add to out slideshow, one after another, so we can easily build a slideshow of the images we want?
I am sure some of the things I have asked for are so, so easy for most people to jump in and do, but there are a LOT of people like me who are so wildly right brained that we cannot grasp the logic or why or where of changing anything with code. And truth is, those of us who are sooo right brained really like being this way and we don’t WANT to spend a lot of time doing techie things…we just want to make a few aesthetic decisions and jump into content and images and inspiration and ideas.
It’s kind of like if you’re in a play, and you’re the actor, you’re consumed with learning your lines and the content/feelings you want to impart to your audience, right? You-the-actor are 100% focused on communication. But you-the-actor probably don’t want to also design and build the sets, and sew the costumes, and block out all the scenes, right? Because those require skills sets that you don’t have as an actor. I hope that makes sense?
OK, that’s a bunch I threw out you. But one last question….are you THE Chris, the one who developed Thesis?? If so, I can’t believe you are still working a 9-to-5 job, isn’t Chris Pearson a huge internet magnate? If not now, you must be very close with Thesis!

Hi Chris,

I’m looking for a Thesis skin that will create a traditional business website with parent and child pages and menus plus blog.
Something like the iCompany theme - but with the possibility of customization over time - would be great.

Thanks

I have searching for hours and not found what I need. I am looking for a (Thesis 1.61/WP 2.8.5) ’skin’ that doesn’t end up looking like almost every other blog site design. You see, we are using WP as an e-commerce CMS and what I am looking for is all the benefits of Thesis but in a more commercial rather than blog format - something like this for instance http://www.dogkennelsandcrates.com/. So, any chance you might want to do something for all those WP ’shop’ sites out there who really need the SEO benefits of Thesis?

I agree with the two prior comments. I have been looking for a more static type website skin rather then blog appearance. chicagopersonalinjurylawyer dot com (no spaces) is a good example with the side bar moved to the left.

I need a customized thesis theme for a blog integrated into my website. I don’t quite have the know-how or time to do it.
I have one customized theme already, but the designer who made it screwed up by not customizing the little things like bullets, sidebar search forms, etc, and it’s a gigantic pain in the ass. You could probably use a lot of the CSS from that one.
Can you let me know how soon you can do this and what kind of price range we’re looking at.

Thanks,
Jordan

Do you ever do any custom fee-for-service Thesis design work?
